But then as of January 2018, all web sites and even Chrome extensions can no longer detect or connect to Chromecast through my browser, as they previously could. But throughout December, other video sites such as Crunchyroll or Dailymotion were still functioning just fine, with the Cast icon appearing in their videos. As of December, Youtube stopped detecting my Cast functionality, so the videos there no longer gave the option to Cast. UPDATE 2018: It seems Google has recently been updating their back-end scripts, which has further crippled Cast functionality - at least this seems to be the case for me in Win XP.
